DIY Monsters, Inc. “Boo” Costume (No Sew)

If you saw my DIY Halloween costumes from last year, you’ll know that many of them required a sewing machine. I thought I would switch things up this year and share three costumes that are simple, low cost, and require zero sewing. Let’s face it – Covid has many parents (including myself) stretched thin between virtual learning and lack of childcare. I realize that free time is limited and many parents don’t have the availability to sit down and sew together a costume. So if you’re in need of easy, yet adorable options this year, I got you covered!

First up is “Boo” from Monsters, Inc. Honestly guys – this is probably one of the easiest DIY costumes ever (no exaggeration). It only requires a few key pieces, many of which can be found at your local thrift store!

Ever since I began putting Nori’s hair into pigtails, people would comment how much she resembled “Boo”. When I started brainstorming DIY costumes for this year, I knew I had to recreate this adorable character from Monsters, Inc.

What I love most about this costume is that it requires basic clothes Nori already had in her closet. I also love that this costume isn’t just for toddlers. Babies, teens and adults can recreate this look. Complete the Monsters, Inc. cast by having siblings (or even parents) dress up as Mike, Sulley, and Roz!

Keep reading below for links to the items needed to recreate this costume!

Materials:

  • Oversized Pink T-Shirt | HERE
  • Purple Leggings | HERE
  • White Socks | HERE
  • Pink Bubble Ball Ponytail Elastics | HERE (we didn’t use these, but it would have made the costume even more realistic!)
  • (Optional) Mike Doll | HERE
  • (Optional) Sulley Doll | HERE

That’s it! Absolutely no sewing, cutting or gluing! If you decide to try this DIY out, be sure to tag me on Instagram or use the hashtag #BrookeADIYs! Stay tuned for my other two easy DIY costumes!

Happy Halloween!

Xo,
Brooke
